Why our calendar isn't full

We're educators, not tour operators.

South India's tropical weather can flip in an hour, so we don't pre-sell stargazing months in advance - most events go live around 2 weeks before, when we have a real read on the sky.

Here's the part that matters: even when the clouds win, our sessions don't disappoint. We run theory sessions, walk you through what would have been overhead, and our guests have consistently left telling us we've gone beyond what they expected. Cloudy or crystal clear, you take something home.

How we run things

  • -Most events announced about 2 weeks ahead
  • -Full refund if you cancel up to 3 days before. No fees, no questions.
  • -Follow us on Instagram - that's where new dates drop first.

The Venue

Rocky Ridge Cafe

Rocky Ridge is an organic farm and retreat with a café, offering simple and healthy living and relaxation with mother nature. It sits in a very picturesque valley on the higher slopes, on the Denkanikota-Palacode state highway.

The farm has cottages and tents for those who want to experience nature at close hand. Cottages are designed in an eco-friendly manner using natural materials - rustic by design but offering all modern comforts, each accommodating up to 4 adults. The tents are available for couples or families with small children.

Active participation in farming activities is encouraged - planting seeds, harvesting, and learning natural farming methods. On weekends, elaborate breakfast, lunch and dinner options are available. During weekdays, guests can ask the cook to prepare a simple meal.

The Observatory

RiSa Astronomy Observatory

RiSa Astronomy operates a permanent observatory housed at Rocky Ridge. The facility includes a 16-inch telescope that is open to the public on certain planned events - guided by our team of qualified astronomers.

We also house our 20-inch telescope here, available on special booking for groups and institutions seeking a deeper observing experience.

Prior Registration is Mandatory

The observatory is not open for walk-ins. All visits must be pre-booked through a registered RiSa Astronomy event. Arrive only if you have a confirmed booking - this ensures each group gets quality time with the telescope and our astronomers.
