Come to Coorg and marvel under the starry skies, with an expert astronomer to help navigate the stars and constellations. we will also setup a high quality telescope to show you Saturn, Venus, Jupiter and Mars, besides other deep sky objects like star clusters, double stars etc.

About the event

Below is the schedule for the 21-Jan Winter Astronomy trip.

1:00 pm to 3:00 pm - Arrival, lunch and get to know the campsite, tent allocation

3:00 pm - Briefing followed by Solar Astronomy through a solar telescope (Session 1)

3:30 pm to 4:30 pm - Discussion on solar observation, understand the origin of the sun and our origin story

4:30 pm to 5:00 pm - Interaction, open QnA session over tea/coffee and snacks

7:00 pm to 8:30 pm - Stargazing with telescopes (Session 2) – Observe Mars, Jupiter and its moons, winter milky way, Nebula, star clusters, double stars with the telescope. Also see artificial satellites and possibly meteors, with the naked eye

8:30 pm to 9:30 pm - Dinner and campfire

9:30 pm to 10:30 pm - We will get a practical understanding of the night sky, how stars and constellations move across the sky over time. Learn to identify few constellations and bright stars and tips to easily remember them. After this session you will be able to make astronomical observations on your own, in future, even without owning a telescope

10:30 pm to 4:30 am - Sleep and rest. Or deep sky observation continues. We will also help you take pictures of the night sky with your phone/DSLR. Please carry a tripod if you have one, if interested in this.

4:30 am to 6 am - Stargazing with telescopes (Session 3) Wake up and get introduced to new constellations as well as other beautiful double stars and clusters in the telescope. Also see more artificial satellites

6 am to 8 am - Short trek around the estate: watch the sun rise

8 am to 8 30 am - Breakfast
